Who is BLCKGTH?
Owned and operated as a maison by ReddWalker Group LLC, BLCKGTH’s emo and scene aesthetic is the creation of L. Walker, the creative director and designer. Noticing that the underrepresentation of Black people and other people of color in the Emo/Goth scene especially in Los Angeles, L. Walker decided to create a space for this sub-culture to express themselves and to continue to set trends. From this passion, BLCKGTH was born. L. Walker is also the chief designer and creative influence for QJNJERA, a streetwear inspired collection that fuses the bright colors and flavor of South Los Angeles in its designs.
In L. Walker’s own words
“BLCKGTH is an apparel line that offers clothing and accessories with homemade and hand drawn designs BLCKGTH was made to reach out to the Black/People of Color emo and scene community because although it may seem that the emo and scene community is dying out, BLCKGTH is going to be one of the revival clothing shops.” I gain inspiration for music from Ian Beckwith, David Stroughder, and Darren Bladen. The Grindcore and Noise scenes serves as muses for my clothing designs.
